How to use WSIS Commander

Making WSIS operational on your web site is merely uploading tests and WSIS files. Follow these steps:
  1. Author a test using TestCommander v. 5 (it is FREE for non-commercial personal use). Authoring a test is very simple, you just need to type in (copy and paste if you have it in electronic format already) your questions and then hit the "Save" button.
  2. Publish your test for the web using the program. Publishing the test itself is a matter of selecting the test and hitting the "Publish for Web" button, you can however publish the test as:
       a. regular - no authentication required for the student to take the test or
       b. secure (with "Secure" checkbox selected) - student needs to login to take the test.

In the case of a) testCommander prepares three files, "name of yourtest".html, "nameofyourtest".asp and tests.html for you in the default directory C:\Program Files\testCommander. Upload these files to your website.

In the case of b) testCommander prepares two files, "nameofyourtest"S.asp and "nameofyourtest"A.asp in a direcotry named SecureTests. Upload these files to your website,

Moreover, if you wish to allow the students to review the explanation of answers (this is the info. that you entered in the Remarks field when you prepared your test), select the Review checkbox before publishing your test. A file named "nameofyourtest"Review.html will be saved for you in the default directory for non-secure tests and in the Securetests folder for the secure test. Upload it to your site with the rest of the files.

  3. Create a folder named database on your website and upload your test database in it.
  4. Purchase WSIS (see bottom of page) and upload it in the same folder as your test on your web site.

    FOR SECURE TESTS

    • Logon to WSIS by entering http://(naeofyourwebsite)/wsislogin.asp and using the password you entered to access the admin section on your testCommander.
    • Create login names and accounts for your students using the "Create Accounts" button.
    • Register students for a test using the "Register for a Test" button.

  5. Administer your test: in the case of non-secure tests provide students with the web address of your tests.html file; in the case of secure tests provide the address to a file called wsislogin.asp (i.e., http://nameofyourwebsite/wsislogin.asp) on your web site.
  6. Once a student completes a test you will get his/her score forwarded to you in your email. You can then access student scores by logging in to WSIS to perform all the functionalities that WSIS offers (Visit WSIS under the products section to view these). The url will be http://(name of your web site)/wsislogin.asp. Your administrator password is the same password you use to enter the admin mode in testCommander.

Q. How can I purchase the WSIS?
A. You can download the system for only $22.89 USD. A download link and password will be emailed to you as soon as your payment has been verified. WSIS is a self-extracting file which contains all required files. You double click on it and all the files will extract themselves in the folder of your choice. Upload them to your web site.
